This week we are thrilled to have our neighbor and professional colleague, Dr. Jeff DeSarbo, as our guest. Dr. DeSarbo is a Board Certified Psychiatrist specializing in eating disorders as well as general psychiatry. As a physician, Dr. DeSarbo completed his medical internship and training in psychiatry through the New York University(NYU) residency program at North Shore University Hospital, Manhasset, NY and he attended medical school at the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine in Old Westbury, NY.
Dr. DeSarbo's special interest in the neurosciences has led to a unique approach to treating eating disorders and other psychiatric conditions.Currently, Dr. DeSarbo serves as a Board Member of the National Eating Disorder Association (NEDA) of Long Island and he frequently lectures to the public and teaches courses on eating disorders and psychiatry to physicians and other health care providers. In addition to Dr. DeSarbo's extensive training in psychopharmacology, he has been trained in and practices psychodynamic, existential, and cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). By combining the art of therapy with the biological understanding of the human body, Dr. DeSarbo's approach is to help a patient understand themself as whole: mind, body and spirit.
